It is inevitable that from time to time you will encounter a difficult class.  It is essential that you follow the procedures laid down by the school when such matters arise.  You must find out these procedures as soon as possible.  If they are not clear in the welcome pack you must ask the person giving you your induction briefing.  You might have to send a pupil for support to a set place or to the subject leader or head of year.
Many schools have an emergency on-call button on SIMS.  You must use the school's procedures to follow up any incident.  It could be that you must see the subject leader or the pastoral head for that year or group.  This will make it easier for you next time you go to that school.  Although you might feel that you are on your own, teaching is a team activity and the best teachers rely on the support systems that are available.
