This is a particular problem when doing day supply as the subject leaders might have had minimal notice about a colleague's absence. It is always wise to have some generic activities if there is no work set. There are some lessons available for download on the SupplyWell website which we suggest you have on a USB just in case. Try and think up ways of simplifying work such as writing starter sentences or key words on the board. Similarly, think about how work could be extended such as creating a summarising podcast script or asking the pupils to create instruction booklets on the topic.
